Vert de Fleur
Tom Ford Vert de Fleur
Vert de Fleur is Tom Ford’s uber luxe, gold-plated vision of a sylvan fantasy – beautiful nymphs and demi-gods making love on the damp, mossy floor of a forest, surrounded by chilly green flowers rudely pushing their way up through the soil. Love 1970’s No. 19, with its smoky, leathery trail and withering glances? Well, take heart because Vert de Fleur reincarnates No. 19, but takes her out of the boardroom and drapes her in a sexy Tom Ford floor-length gown.
The opening is as superbly naturalistic as De Profundis - iris and hyacinth seduce with their cool, limpid delicacy, while hints of orange flower and neroli sparkle sweetly, little dewdrops of honey clinging to the wet moss. The first impression is of spring florals bursting through a thick carpet of mossy greens, fighting the trees for light and air. Nestled inside the austere, smoky campfire nuances of galbanum and vetiver, a surprisingly sensual floral heart of creamy orris, rose, and jasmine unfolds, a sudden shaft of sunlight through the gloom. Damp, chocolatey oakmoss and patchouli bring up the rear, creating a louche, 70’s feel, glossed with Tom Ford’s signature luxe. For those of you looking for the Green Goddess beauty of 1970’s No. 19 but with an earthier, more outdoorsy sexiness, then look no further than Vert de Fleur.
